Healthy Heart

Being someone whose family members died of heart diseases, I took it upon myself to research and find more about healthy living and with special interest in cholesterol and blood pressure.
High blood pressure is called a silent killer for a good reason. I have seen some healthy vibrant and young family member of mine that have visited their graves early.
At the age of 22 my blood pressure was already 150+ / 110. I ate healthy, stopped smoking, took my medications, and tried to control stress but my blood pressure was still high. I however noticed an improvement when I started exercising, constantly hydrated, and maintained a healthy diet. When I go to the gym I do both cardio and strength training. Know your limit, start from what you are comfortable with and then increase your time in the gym. Don’t deceive yourself too. No pain, No gain.
My diets are mainly greens, fruits, nuts and a lot of water. I love my banana, orange juice and almond smoothie also. I hardly use salt at all and watch my sugar intake because my mom was diabetic.
Since high blood pressure is due to tension exerted on the arteries and vessels that carry blood from the hearth, it will be prudent to keep those arteries healthy. Nuts that are rich in unsaturated fats, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Plant Sterol and Fiber will go a long way in helping to not only lower the pressure on your vessels and arteries, but also lower you LDL also known as bad cholesterol. I personally like these nuts because of their high ratio of unsaturated fat to saturated fat. They are Almonds, Hazelnuts, Walnuts, Pistachios, and Pecans.
